Good Times, Good Vibes
A girl attends a life changing concert.
Let me start by saying this concert is the thing that changed my life. When I found out about this concert it was about three months beforehand, and when I found out who was playing I got super excited. Four bands that I really enjoyed listening to were performing at Red Rocks in Denver, Colorado. The bands were The Movement, J Boog, Iration, and Slightly Stoopid. So I talked to my parents, trying to convince them to let me go stay with my aunt and uncle up in Brighton, so I could attend my first concert without the stressfulness of a long road trip right before it.
My mom said maybe. I was so happy about that maybe, I was as happy as if it was already a yes, which it turned out to be. So I went up to Denver and stayed with my aunt and uncle for a month. The concert was a day after my birthday, which is August seventeenth, so the concert was the eighteenth. My brother was going to come down on my birthday to go to the concert. I got to hang out with my cousins through that month, which ended up being the best month of my life.
So, it's the seventeenth and my brother came down, his name is Michael. So then me, my brother Michael, and my cousins who are, Adam, Michael, and Collin, got to hang out for bit, which was nice. We sat around the fire in the backyard and just jammed out to some tunes, trying to convince Adam to come to the concert showing him the songs. He wasn’t impressed, but he gave it a try and bought a ticket.
We all got ready the next day, and I remember drawing with my brother till it was time to go. We all got a ride to the house that my other cousins, Aaron and Derek, had rented. We just kind of chilled there for a bit and when it was time to leave we took a couple Ubers up to Red Rocks. When I saw Red Rocks I was in awe. The cliffs that surrounded us were amazing. It was such a beautiful place to hold concerts. I saw it in pictures and I heard about how cool it was, but it was so much better to see it in person.
Right when I walked into Red Rocks my mind went to ease and I felt like this was just a great place to be in that moment. I guess because the people there just gave off these beautiful vibes, it was great being surrounded by so many people that love the same music. We all had something in common and we didn't know each other, but we were still able to jam out and have conversations about something we love.
I look to the stage and see a couple of men setting up, The Movement’s album cover behind the instruments. At this point I didn’t have anything better to do or think of, but to watch the band members walking out on stage, hyping up the audience. That was the best feeling. Seeing Josh in person, listening to their music in person was just amazing. After The Movement played they tore down their album cover to present J Boog and seeing them was spectacular. After that Iration came on, and after a while Slightly Stoopid. It was an amazing night.
After the concert me my cousins Adam, Michael and my brother, followed the crowd down to the lower lot. Everyone was trying to call my cousins Erin and Derek, since they were the ones who had rented the Party Bus and that was the only way we had home. We met up with them and had a jolly ol’ time on the bus.I ended up falling asleep for a bit, but after a little while I woke up to the song that put my life on a different path. It was Driftin’ by Dirty Heads. After some more jamming out and having fun, we arrived at back at the rental house to end a great night.
